An investigation by Knox County Sheriff’s Office Detectives in the Family Justice Center led to the arrest of a Knoxville man Monday night wanted for possessing child pornography. Forty-two year old Douglas Royster of 3324 Joseph Gates Lane was taken into custody without incident. A search warrant served at Royster’s house turned up a computer which contained thousands of images of child pornography. He is being held in the Knox County Jail on a one million dollar bond charged with sexual exploitation of a minor (more than 100 images/materials). Royster has a criminal history involving assault.
Two men are in the Knox County Jail facing multiple charges from an incident Sunday around 5 p.m. at 1305 Oscar Armstrong Road. According to the warrant, 44 year old Lisa Walker called 911 from the house and left the line open. Dispatchers heard one of the two men who had forced their way in say “cover up your face and give me all your money.” They also heard a gunshot. Walker’s son, 19 year old Jermichael Walker told officers that two black men forced him and his mother at gunpoint to a back bedroom as the suspects searched for money. One of the suspects hit both victims in the forehead with a gun. The other fired a round into the bed. One of the suspects then led Jermichael into the living room where he and a suspect struggled over the gun. Four or five shots were fired but no one was injured.
Ferrari Tee Glasper
Bobby Ray Ladd, Jr
As the two suspects left the house, officers with the Knoxville Police Department saw the suspects running from the house. One of the suspects threw down a gun and drugs upon seeing the officer. Officers also found the victims’ cell phones, jewelry, and cash. The Walkers were taken to U.T. Hospital for treatment.
The suspects are identified as 22 year old Ferrari Tee Glasper and 25 year old Bobby Ray Ladd, Jr., both of Knoxville. Both are charged with aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Their bonds are set at $200,000 a piece. Both have extensive criminal histories including multiple assaults, evading arrest, traffic infractions, and possession of a weapon.
A female inmate hanged herself in the downtown jail around 8:40 Thursday morning. Forty-four year old Karen Michelle Gow of Harriman was transported to Fort Sanders Hospital where she was pronounced dead about an hour later. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy. Gow was booked into the jail on October 16th for violation of probation on a worthless check charge, failure to appear on theft charges, and also escape for walking out of a courtroom.
Gow’s evaluation upon entering jail did not indicate any suicidal tendencies. A corrections officer found her on regular rounds and immediately began CPR after calling for assistance. Gow used a bed sheet thrown over a towel rack to hang herself. Gow left suicide notes. Major Crimes and the Office of Professional Standards are investigating.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people and sent a baby to the hospital after finding a meth lab in a West Knox County garage Tuesday afternoon.
An on-going investigation led officers to a mobile home at 11325 Sam Lee Road around 3 o’clock where they found an active meth lab in a detached garage. They arrested the three suspects who lived there: 25 year old William Tims who was renting the mobile home, his 27 year old brother Daniel Tims and 25 year old Victoria Trentham. Trentham’s 10 month son was taken to Children’s Hospital. There were no signs of any outward injuries, but according to state law, children must be taken to a hospital for evaluation. Trentham and William Tims will be facing child abuse charges. All are charged with promotion of meth and all had outstanding warrants. William Tims will also be charged with evading arrest. He ran from KCSO officers a few days ago when they attempted to serve the outstanding warrants.
KCSO Officers recovered 1 gram of meth and say meth was cooked at least two days ago. They found all the equipment and materials needed to manufacture meth in the garage including jars, ammonia nitrate, gas generators, lithium strips and batteries, tubing, coffee filters, and other items.
