The Knox County Sheriffs Office Regional Training Academy has the honor of producing some of the best law Enforcement officers in the state through our Basic Police School, we also host a number of specialized training schools every year from various training originations including the F.B.I., Homeland Security, N.R.A.,ect. As well as maintaining our own professional training staff.

The Knox County Sheriffs Office employs approx: 1100 personnel total with about 470 certified officers included. Each officer is mandated by the State of Tennessee to receive 40 hours of inservice training every year to maintain certification, we also have a reserve unit with approx: 90 reserve officers that also must maintain 40 hours, along with court security officers and school police unit specialized training, along with S.W.A.T.training, C.N.T. training, Special Deputies, Citizens Academy, S.C.A.N.units, Tracking team, Honor guard, and other specialized units.

Attached you will find photos of our training facilities that we utilize daily, along with the Knoxville police departments driving track which is used for drivers training known as E.VO.c. We use several construction locations (ie: warehouses, abandoned houses, trailers, and closed business, and a school bus for scenario training).

We maintain an indoor firing range for year round firearms training and qualification including low light/no light training, an outdoor range for combat courses, multiple classroom's for ongoing specialized training, along with firearms and driving simulators for judgmental shooting and pursuit driving tactics.
