Suspect Wanted for Officer Assault and Business Break-Ins PDF Print E-mail

logan_jrdennis_19152_09-12-1979_front.jpg The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 28 year old suspect who assaulted a KCSO officer and who may have committed a string of break-ins of businesses in West Knox County early Tuesday morning.  Officer Mitchell Grimes spotted a car pulling into a motel on Merchant’s Road shortly before 4:00 a.m. that matched the description of a vehicle and suspect that had been involved in the break-ins.  When the officer made contact with the suspect, Dennis Lee Logan, Jr., who was driving, he ran on foot.  Officer Grimes fired his Taser and missed, then ran after the suspect.  He caught up with him and Logan fought the officer and punched him in the face.  Both men fell into a creek at which time the suspect tried to hold the officer’s head under water.  Logan broke free and ran on foot.  A woman who was with Logan was taken into custody.

According to records, the vehicle that Logan was driving, a 1987 Chevy Blazer, was reported stolen through the Knoxville Police Department.  KPD also had three outstanding warrants on Logan for aggravated assault, theft, and vandalism.
