The Special Operations Response Team, (S.O.R.T.), is a group of highly trained individuals within the
Corrections Division capable of responding to a variety of emergency and high-risk situations within the detention environment.

The Team's responsibilities include responding to a variety of emergency situations and/or other tactical situations as deemed necessary. The S.O.R.T. will react to instances when the risk of physical harm to staff or other inmates is too great for normal procedures.

The Team is called upon to perform physical extraction of inmates who require forcible removal from a cell or other institutional area due to perceived or heightened probability of harm to the inmate or other inmates, or staff members; as well as other specialized needs that may arise in a correctional setting.
