Man Charged in 2006 Murder PDF Print E-mail

loveday____jrray_37278_04-01-1987_front.jpgTwenty one year old Ray Edward Loveday has been charged with a murder dating back to 2006.  Loveday is accused of killing Ricky Tipton Thompson on September 4, 2006 in the Vestal area of Maple and Eddington Streets.  Loveday was actually trying to shoot another man with whom he had an on-going dispute.  Loveday fired at least 27 rounds of ammunition at Matthew Moore.  Moore escaped injury, but two others with him were shot and injured along with Thompson who was killed.

Loveday was already in the Knox County Jail for a violation of a CAPP (Community Alternative Prison Program) warrant for intent to sell cocaine.  He has a criminal history that includes drugs, driving without a license, and theft.  He is being held on the first degree murder charge with a $2 million bond.   This is an on-going investigation.
