taylorjames_53329_01-19-1970_front.jpg Thirty-eight year old James Allen Taylor is in the Knox County Jail charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault stemming from an incident Sunday night.  Taylor shot his ex-wife’s boyfriend around 7:15 p.m. after a dispute over a dog.  He fired seven rounds with one round hitting 39 year old Tom Nelson in the neck.  Another round hit the front door and sent shards of glass into the stomach of his ex-wife, 40 year old Frieda Taylor.  She was treated and released from the University of Tennessee Medical Center.  Nelson remains hospitalized there.  The shooting happened at 2913 Carbine Lane where Nelson and Frieda Taylor live. 

Taylor called the Knoxville Police Department immediately after the shooting and surrendered to KPD officers a short time later on Jacksboro Pike.  Taylor is being held on a $325,000 bond.  His address is Farnsworth Court in Straw Plains.
