The Explorer Program is chartered by the Boy Scouts of America, and set up through the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. The Post members come from various social and economic backgrounds, inner city, and suburban areas. This diversity provides a unique environment for our members to work, learn, and socialize in an atmosphere that teaches them cultural sensitivity while working together to achieve common goals.

Our primary focus is to acquaint and instill everyday principles of civic duty and pride that govern our society. Explorers learn the principles of Integrity, Personal Responsibility, Individual Accountability, Dignity and Respect, Leadership, Honesty, and thriving for Excellence.  Explorers must adopt these teachings to guarantee their future success in whatever field that they proceed with as adults.

Our secondary focus is to expose its members to all aspects of law enforcement. Some of the areas of study include: traffic stops, handcuffing, building searches, criminal law, domestic violence, first aid, and much more.

Our third focus is to then use the training and compete against other law enforcement Explorers across the nation as well as experiencing fun activities provided by the scouts.
