Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones is pleased to announce that Detective Brian Williams of the Family Crisis Unit was awarded Detective of the Month for August, 2008.
In March, Detective Williams was assigned a child abuse case involving a twelve year old girl and her stepfather. Over the course of the next several months, he conducted countless interviews and worked diligently to build a solid case. On August 1st, the Knox County Grand Jury handed down a 43 count indictment on the stepfather, including charges of Child Rape and Aggravated Sexual Battery. A $500,000 bond was set.
According to supervisor Lt. Jeanette Harris, “Detective Williams demonstrated excellent interview skills and outstanding professionalism throughout this investigation. He worked tirelessly to bring this case to a successful conclusion in order to take a sexual predator off the streets.”
