Tracey Leach

Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones is pleased to announce the 2008 Corrections Officer of the Year.  Officer Tracey B. Leach was chosen by a group of supervisors from Corrections for his outstanding job performance.  Leach followed a lead that a handgun was possibly hidden at the Knox County Sheriff’s Detention Facility in June, 2008.  He immediately notified his supervisor of his suspicions.  A search was conducted and handgun was found in a bathroom area.

“Due to Leach’s quick actions and professionalism, a dangerous situation was discovered in time.  His response to the urgency of this incident demonstrated his character as an outstanding Knox County Sheriff’s Officer,” said Sheriff Jones.

Leach, who is 45 years old, has been with the Sheriff’s Office since last April.  He was given a Corrections Officer of the Year pin to wear on his uniform and will be allowed a day off with pay.
