 Newberry

Detectives with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested a couple early Wednesday evening after they were found passed out in a van.  When paramedics arrived at the church parking lot on A Drive in Mascot before 7 p.m., they found a 7 month old baby underneath his mother.  Twenty-three year old Brandon Holloway of Dandridge and 24 year old Sara Newberry of Tipton Station Road in Knoxville are charged with child abuse, neglect, aggravated robbery, and felony theft.  Holloway was also charged with DUI (second offence) and violation of implied consent.  Detectives say the couple burglarized a home on Molly Bright Road in East Knox County.  They’re investigating to see if they may be linked to several other burglaries throughout the county.  The Department of Children Services took custody of the child.

911 received two calls during the day that the couple was seen doing drugs in the van and that a baby was in the vehicle at the time.  However, when officers arrived, the van was gone.  Holloway’s criminal history includes reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft.  Newberry’s criminal history lists drug possession and theft.
