Suspect Wanted in Convenience Store Armed Robberies PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 20 May 2009

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect who may be responsible for two armed robberies at two West Knox County convenience stores.  The first store robbed was the Weigel’s at 600 Ebenezer Road at 11 p.m. Tuesday.  A black male wearing white ski gloves, white tennis shoes and a black toboggan held up a clerk with a black semi automatic gun and got away with money from the cash register.  No one was hurt during the incident.

The second armed robbery occurred Wednesday morning at 5 o’clock at the Pilot on Middlebrook and Joe Hinton Road.  A black male wearing blue latex gloves, a blue bandana over his face, a black bucket hat with a ponytail,  mirrored sun glasses, gray and white velcro shoes and brandishing a black semi automatic gun, accosted two employees in the parking lot as they were cleaning and ordered them back into the store.  He demanded two cartons of cigarettes and money from the register and after getting them, left on foot.

Meanwhile, an employee at the nearby McDonald’s saw the suspect leave the Pilot and watched him get into the passenger side of a dark blue Ford Escort in the McDonald’s parking lot and head for downtown Knoxville.  The witness said the car’s right taillight was out.
