Knox County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested 30 year old Billy W. Spurgeon early Monday morning after he carjacked a truck and refused to let the driver go. The incident began late Sunday night when officers were called to Bowman Hollow Road and attempted to arrest Spurgeon on outstanding warrants. He fled in a stolen Cadillac to East Beaver Creek Road where an officer tried to stop the car, but Spurgeon fled again, this time southbound on Clinton Highway. As he pulled into a parking lot and then tried to get back on the highway, the car blew a tire. He left the vehicle and carjacked a truck and would not let the female driver go. An officer used his car bumper to disable the truck and take Spurgeon into custody. No one was injured.
Spurgeon has been charged with carjacking, kidnapping, 3 charges of
vandalism, burglary, theft, reckless driving, simple possession, 2

of burglary tools, vandalism, and theft. Knoxville Police believe
