Woman Killed in One Car Crash PDF Print E-mail

Officers with the Knox County Sheriff's Office are investigating a one car crash that killed a 57 year old woman on Washington Pike at Babelay Road on Monday afternoon. She is identified as Sharon L. Shuman of Pickett Place Way in Knoxville.  According to witnesses, Shuman was driving eastbound on Washington Pike in a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, when she swerved off the road and struck a trailer parked near the Town and Country Market.  The top of the car was sheered off as it went underneath the trailer and traveled another 178 feet into a wooded area off Babelay Road.  Shuman was pronounced dead on the scene.  Her body was transported to the U.T. Forensic Center.
