Suspect in Johnia Berry Murder Commits Suicide PDF Print E-mail

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suicide of the man being held in the murder of Johnia Berry.  Twenty-two year old Taylor Olson was found hanged in his Knox County Jail cell at 12:56 a.m. Monday.  Olson had torn a bed sheet and hung it from a clothes hook in the corner of his cell where he hanged himself.  olsontaylor_91940_04-03-1985_front.jpgThere was no prior indication of suicidal tendencies. Olson was being held in a cell alone and was checked on hourly. 

Jail officers found Olson unresponsive and started CPR and continued until Rural Metro arrived and declared him dead.  His body was transported to the University of Tennessee Forensic Center.  He left letters to his family. 

Taylor has been jailed since September 2007 charged with first degree murder and held on a million dollar bond for the death of Berry.  The 21 year old was found stabbed to death outside her West Knoxville apartment on December 6, 2004.
