The Knox County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the alleged assault of Henry Granju.  The preliminary investigation shows no evidence that his death was the result of a homicide or from the injuries he may have received from an assault.  An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday and the results are pending.

We understand and sympathize that the family wants answers immediately.  However, our detectives will not compromise the investigation and will continue to investigate the incident with professionalism and integrity.

Detectives with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office have charged a man with robbing four Knox County CVS Pharmacies since January.  Tips led officers to the Clark Motel on Clinton Highway where they arrested thirty-eight year old Brian Christopher Bowling. He is charged with four counts of robbery and is being held in the Knox County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $38,000.  He has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1998 that includes theft, drug charges, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Bowling hit the CVS Pharmacy on January 24th at 4500 E. Emory Road; April 14th at 417 E. Emory Road; May 6th at 11946 Kingston Pike; and May 19th at 9260 Kingston Pike.  In each one he handed the pharmacist a note demanding pain medications and indicated he had a weapon and would use it if his demands were not met.  The pills were handed over and no one was hurt in any of the robberies.

The second patch was found May 25th at the intersection of Rutledge Pike and Mine Road.  Officers found 298 young plants.  They are still investigating who owns the property.

The plants from both places will be destroyed according to a court order.  The Aviation Unit has been looking for marijuana because this is typically the growing season.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify a woman who has stolen over $40,000 by using stolen credit cards and checks for the past several months.  The suspect breaks into cars taking purses and then using the checks and credit cards to get cash.  She also takes the stolen purse with her to the bank.  Detectives believe she is able to get the money because she closely resembles the victims’ driver’s license picture.
