KCSO Investigating 3 Robberies

Friday, 19 August 2011

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating three robberies of three Knox County businesses in the last two days.  Investigators will not say if the three are related.  One suspect is in custody and is charged with the armed robbery of Humphammer’s Market on Clinton Highway Friday morning.  He’s identified as 29 year old Dusty Mink of Childress Road and his bond is $20,000.

According to the Incident Report, witnesses say that Mink ran into the market at 6:34 with a gun and yelled for the clerk to give him the money or he would shoot.  They stated that Mink grabbed the cash register and ran out the door.  One witness identified as Bryan Smith and another unidentified witness chased the suspect and captured him behind the business and held him down until officers arrived.

The cash register, money, and handgun were recovered at the scene.  No one was injured during the incident.

Earlier Friday morning another business was robbed, this one in West Knox County.  At 3:48, the clerk at the Residence Inn Marriott at 215 Langley Place said that a man and woman robbed the business of cash and a master room card.  The clerk did not know if they fled the business on foot or in a vehicle. No weapons were displayed and no injuries were reported.

The man is described as white, 5’10”, 160 pounds, mid 20s, unshaven, and brown hair.  The other suspect is a white female, 5’8”, 140 pounds, early 20s, and brown pony tail.

The other robbery occurred Thursday afternoon at the Little Rascals Consignment Store at 527 Andrew Johnson Highway at 2:19.  A white male wearing an orange U.T. cap pulled up his shirt showing a gun and gave a note to the clerk demanding money.  It’s believed he left on foot after getting the money.  No one was injured in that incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the KCSO at 215-2243.
