Tuesday, 30 August 2011

A 20 year old Rifle Range Road man is in custody after threatening to kill himself and anyone who responded to the scene.  The man whose identity hasn’t been released yet, called 911 at 9:30 Tuesday morning and said he was going to kill himself and if any police officers or EMS personnel showed up he would shoot them.  Patrol Officers arrived on the scene and Lieutenant Ashley Coulter made contact with the man on the phone and talked with him until he surrendered at 11:05.  He was immediately taken into custody.  Charges are pending.  He was taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation.

Officers found a 22 rifle and a spear gun in his residence at 2848 Rifle Range Road.  While talking with Lt. Coulter, the man fired 4-5 rounds.  It is unclear if he fired in or outside the house.  No one was injured.
