Gambling Raid

Friday, 14 October 2011

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office raided a gambling establishment Thursday afternoon in an office complex off Middlebrook Pike.  Officers found 18 people in a high stakes poker game around 2 p.m. at 1219 Hilton industrial Way, Suite I.  Several were professional gamblers.   Officers confiscated approximately $3,600 in cash, which was found stashed behind a stove and a refrigerator.  They also took a gaming table.

The form of poker they were playing is called Omaha High Low and a hand is played every three minutes.  There were fourteen players who had an average of $800-$1,500 in chips on the table at the time of the raid.  Nine were playing and five more were waiting to get into the game. Two dealers and two owners of the establishment were also present.  No arrests, but the information was taken to the Knox County District Attorney’s Office for possible prosecution.
