December 2011 Officer of the Month

Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Officer Glenn Simerly has been awarded Officer of the Month for December 2011. On December 13, 2011 Officer Simerly responded to a burglary in progress call on Middlebrook Pike, where a homeowner had returned to his residence and found two men inside his home. The two suspects pulled the homeowner into the house, beat him, and forced him into a bathroom, telling him to wait until they were gone. After they left, the victim called E-911 and gave good suspect descriptions. Officer Simerly arrived in the area and spotted the suspect vehicle on Lovell Road. He initiated a traffic stop and took both suspects into custody without incident. They both had prior records and were charged with aggravated burglary and kidnapping.

Because of Officer Simerly’s quick and decisive response, he has been named KCSO’s December 2011 Officer of the Month. Officer Simerly has been with Knox County Sheriff’s Office since April 2002.
