East Knox County Pursuit

Tuesday, 06 March 2012

Shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a blue 1992 Geo Metro at the Pop & Go on Smith School Road at King Road in East Knox County. The suspect, 51-year-old Larry Rouse of Clifton Road in Knoxville, failed to stop. Instead, he attempted to run over the officer and drove around for approximately ten minutes until he lost control of his vehicle, ran off the road, and struck a tree on Kodak Road at Midway Road. He was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to UT Hospital by LIFESTAR. Rouse was the only one in the vehicle and he was wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol was involved. Rouse will be charged with aggravated assault, driving on a revoked license, and evading arrest. Other charges are pending.

Rouse has a criminal history in Knox County dating back to 1982 which includes multiple DUI charges, leaving the scene, assault, a drugs charge, a weapons charge, disorderly conduct, and aggravated robbery.
