Karns School Bus Wreck

Wednesday, 14 March 2012

Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wreck involving a school bus on Weaver Road at Meredith Road in West Knox County. The driver of a black 2003 Ford Mustang attempted to turn from Meredith Road onto Weaver Road.  Bus 87, transporting 38 students from Karns Middle School and Karns High School, was traveling southbound on Weaver Road. The Mustang struck the driver’s side front tire of the bus. No one was injured, but Karns Fire Department and Rural Metro responded as a precaution. 10 of the students were released to their parents or guardians. The remaining 28 students were placed on another bus to be taken to their homes.

The driver of the Mustang was cited for failure to yield, expired registration, and driving uninsured.
