Holston Hills Middle School Bus Wreck

Monday, 26 March 2012

Shortly before 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wreck involving a school bus on Emory Road at Fairview Road in East Knox County. According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of a silver 2006 Dodge Stratus pulled out of Thompson School Road onto Emory Road. He immediately stopped and was waiting to turn left onto Fairview Road. The driver of a white 2003 Honda traveling westbound on Emory Road swerved into the left lane of Emory Road to miss the Dodge. The Honda then struck the left front of the bus traveling eastbound on Emory Road. The Honda flipped on its top, spun around, and struck the Dodge stopped on Emory Road.

Bus number 9147 was carrying 21 students to Holston Middle School. No one on the school bus was injured. The students were moved to another bus and taken to school. The driver of the Honda was transported to UT Hospital by Rural Metro for non-life-threatening injuries. Both the driver of the Dodge and his passenger complained of minor injuries, but were not transported to a hospital. The driver of the Honda and the driver of the Dodge and his passenger were all wearing seatbelts. Alcohol was not a factor.
