Arrest Made in West Knox County Shooting

The name of the man shot by his father last night has been released. At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night, 40-year-old Steven Ledbetter was shot by his 72-year-old father, James Ledbetter, at 717 Coventry Road in West Knox County. According to the initial investigation, the son was visiting his parents when he got into an argument with his father. The son brandished a knife and chased his father into the back yard. The father shot the son in the abdomen. The son then went back into the home, where he barricaded himself inside for approximately 45 minutes and vandalized the home. Officers with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office were able to talk him into coming outside. He was then transported to UT Hospital by Rural Metro for non-life-threatening injuries.

Steven Ledbetter was charged with Aggravated Assault with a bond set at $20,000.00. He was also charged with Vandalism with a bond set at $1,000.00. He has a criminal history in Knox County that includes DUI, Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, and Attempted Assault.
