Man Kills Girlfriend and Daughter in West Knox County

A 28-year-old man is being held in the Knox County Detention Facility on a two million dollar bond for killing his girlfriend and their young child. Jorge Molina-Rivera of Lake Brook Lane in Knoxville is charged with two counts of first degree murder. At approximately 3:23 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house under construction at Rogers Island Lane in West Knox County. Officers found a woman and her daughter dead in a van. Molina-Rivera was also in the van and was unresponsive. According to the initial investigation, Molina-Rivera stated that after arguing with his girlfriend he strangled her and their daughter with a rope. He then cut his arms and neck. Both the woman and the child were pronounced dead at the scene by Rural Metro. Molina-Rivera was transported to UT Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He was released and taken into custody. The woman and child’s names and ages are not being released until their relatives are notified.
