West Knox County Crash

Shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle crash on Mourfield Road at Bluegrass Road after a green Subaru Forrester crashed into a tree. Of the six people in the vehicle, three were transported by three separate helicopters to UT Hospital for life-threatening injuries. Two were transported by Rural Metro to UT Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was transported by personal vehicle to UT Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, alcohol was not a factor. It is unknown at this time whether or not everyone was wearing a seatbelt. The cause of the crash was due to reckless driving. Charges are pending against the driver. More details as they become available.
