CORRECTION: Man NOT DEAD in Motorcycle Crash

Sunday, 29 July 2012

The Sheriff's Office incorrectly reported Sunday night that a 31 year old Knoxville man died Sunday after crashing his motorcycle off the 6300 of Burnett Creek Road.  U.T. Hospital mistakenly told one of our investigators that Steven Perry had died.  Perry is listed in critical condition.  U.T. is investigating how the mistake happened.

Perry and another man were riding their motorcycles, when Perry passed him and lost control of his bike in a curve and went down a 30 foot embankment, hitting some trees.  Officers say speed was a factor in the  10:00 a.m.wreck.

The investigation revealed that the motorcycle Perry was driving, a 2001 Suzuki GSX, was stolen and that his license had been revoked.
