Two Armed Robbery Suspects Apprehended

Sunday, 05 August 2012

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Safe Streets Task Force is investigating an armed robbery of a North Knox County pharmacy early Sunday morning. Officers responded to the CVS at 417 East Emory Road at 3:40 a.m.  Two male suspects had shown a weapon to the pharmacist and demanded narcotics and then fled the scene with the narcotics. Deputies spotted the suspects’ car traveling at a high rate of speed.  The suspects wrecked their car on Fountain City Road at Rifle Range Drive.   One suspect was trapped in the car, the other fled on foot but was apprehended after a Knoxville Police K-9 officer tracked the suspect. Both suspects were transported to U.T. Medical Center with injuries sustained in the crash.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues.  The Safe Streets Task Force is comprised of members from the Knoxville division of the FBI, the Knoxville Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
