CVS Robbery Suspects Indicted

Tuesday, 07 August 2012

A federal grand jury today indicted two suspects of robbing a North Knox County pharmacy Sunday morning.  Twenty-eight year old Kevin Beets and 29 year old Ulysses Keys are charged with aggravated robbery.  The robbery occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. when the two entered the CVS on Emory Road and demanded narcotics from the pharmacy.  One of the suspects pointed a shotgun at the clerk and threatened to shoot him “if he pushed any buttons.”  The two fled in a car and wrecked on Fountain City Road at Rifle Range.  Keys was trapped in the vehicle while Beets ran on foot.  Beets was apprehended after a short track by a Knoxville Police Department K-9.  The shotgun and medication were recovered at the scene.  Both suspects were taken to U.T. Hospital.  Beets was treated and released, but Keys remains in the hospital.  Keys has a lengthy criminal in Knox County involving drug charges.

The investigation was conducted by the Safe Streets Task Force, which is comprised of the Knoxville office of the FBI, the Knoxville Police Department, and the KCSO.
