Driver of Vehicle Struck by Tree Identified

The woman whose vehicle was struck by a rotted tree Thursday night is identified as 33-year-old Pam Shirley. Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, officers with the Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to Brown Gap Road in North Knox County after a tree fell on a vehicle. According to the initial investigation, Shirley was traveling eastbound on Brown Gap Road in her Ford Mustang when the top half of a rotted tree fell through her windshield. She was transported to UT Hospital by Rural Metro with non-life-threatening injuries. It is unknown at this time whether or not Shirley was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
