Man Hit by Train in Anchor Park (Update)

Monday, 13 August 2012

Shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Sunday night, the Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to Anchor Park off Turkey Creek Road in West Knox County after a passerby notified E911 that someone had been struck by a train. Rural Metro also responded and pronounced the man who had been struck dead on the scene. According to the initial investigation, the victim appeared to have been crossing the tracks on foot when the engine of a Norfolk Southern train traveling eastbound, carrying 105 coal cars and three engines, struck him. It appears as though alcohol was involved on part of the victim. His name will be released after his relatives have been notified.
