Suspect in Two Pharmacy Robberies Arrested

Wednesday, 05 January 2011

Officers with the Knox County Sheriff's Office arrested a man wanted for robbing two pharmacies.  Twenty-three year old Daniel Shea Smith was arrested at his residence at Langston Drive in Knoxville on Tuesday.  He is charged with robbing the Walgreens on Tazewell Pike on January 2, and the Kmart pharmacy on Maynardville Highway on January 3.  He is being held in the Knox County Detention Facility on a $45,000 bond.  In both robberies, Smith is accused of demanding prescription medication.  Clerks from both stores identified Smith from photo lineups.

Smith was taken into custody after a KCSO patrol officer spotted a car matching the description of a car seen leaving the Walgreens after the robbery.  The person driving the car then led officers to Langston's residence where he was arrested.
