North Knox County Crash Injures Six

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to Pleasant Ridge Road at Mount Pleasant Road in North Knox County after a Dodge Neon struck a Dodge Durango head-on. According to the initial investigation, the driver of a 1999 grey Dodge Neon was traveling northbound on Pleasant Ridge Road when he lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve. He crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a 2003 grey Dodge Durango traveling Southbound on Pleasant Ridge Road head-on. The Neon caught fire, and Rural Metro responded and extinguished the flames.  

The driver of the Neon and the Durango’s driver and three passengers were transported to UT Hospital by Rural Metro for non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger in the Neon was transported to UT Hospital by Rural Metro for serious injuries. According to the initial investigation, alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Speed was a factor on the part of the Neon driver. All were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed.
