Murder Supect Arrested

Monday, 10 January 2011

Detectives with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man wanted in the murder of a North Knox County man.  According to the report, when officers arrived at 3406 Mynatt Road Monday morning at 6:30, they found 58 year old Robert Eldred lying in front of his mobile home.  An emergency medical crew pronounced him dead at the scene.  Witnesses told officers that Eldred and Jose Rodriguez had been in a physical altercation and that they saw Rodriguez leave the scene.

Eighteen year old Rodriguez was taken into custody a short time later at a convenience store on Middlebrook Pike.   He has been charged with second degree murder and his bond is set at $30,000. It is not clear how Eldred died.  The Knox County Medical Examiner is investigating.

Rodriguez lived with his family in a mobile home across from Eldred.  There is no previous criminal history for Rodriguez in Knox County.  Eldred had several run-ins with law enforcement for public intoxication.
