KCSO Arrests Two after Short Pursuit: UPDATE

Charges have been brought against the second man involved in yesterday’s foot pursuit and arrest. 30-year-old James Tyler Porter of 1910 Callahan Road is charged with theft.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men responsible for numerous burglaries and thefts just after 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Porter and 32-year-old Nathan Shane Coker of 3017 Masters Lane were arrested on Callahan Road after running on foot from officers for approximately 15 minutes. The KCSO helicopter aided in tracking the suspects.

Coker is charged with aggravated burglary and five counts of failure to appear with a total bond amount of $109,500. Porter is charged with theft with a bond amount of $10,000.

The arrests came after a lengthy investigation tying Coker to numerous burglaries and thefts that occurred in Knox County and Porter to cases in Knox County, Anderson County, and Union County.

Coker has a criminal history in Knox County that includes possession of drug paraphernalia, burglary, aggravated burglary, theft, and forgery. Porter’s Knox County criminal history includes domestic assault, theft, burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, simple possession, reckless driving, vandalism, and aggravated criminal trespass.

The investigation is ongoing.
