Pursuit Ends in Monroe County

A pursuit that began in West Knox County around 12:09 this morning ended in an arrest in Monroe County.

According to the initial investigation, an officer with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a 1995 black Ford Mustang on Kingston Pike at Cavette Hill. After the officer approached the vehicle, the driver, 40-year-old William Ferguson III sped off in his Mustang, knocking the officer to the ground. A pursuit ensued from Kingston Pike to Campbell Station Road and then to the Interstate. Ferguson took exit 62, Oakland Road in Monroe County, and his vehicle spun out in the median, coming to a stop around 12:36 a.m. 

He was taken into custody and is charged with reckless driving, three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, driving on a revoked license, resisting arrest, and DUI, 8thoffense. His bond amount is unknown at this time.
