Two Men Arrested for Stealing Backflow Valves

Friday, 25 February 2011
Joseph Bean Gary Tuck

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men for stealing over 80 backflow valves in West Knox County over the past two months.  Thirty-three year old Joseph Scott Bean and 32 year old Gary Tuck have been charged with felony theft.  Both are in the Knox County Detention Facility with Bean being held on a $50,000 bond and Tuck with a $59,000 bond.

The valves are made of copper and brass and are part of an in-ground irrigation system.  They are a target of thieves because they can be sold to scrap metal businesses for money.   The Sheriff’s Office continues to advise homeowners to check their irrigation systems and if they notice the valves are gone to report it to KCSO at 215-2432.
