Monday, 28 February 2011

A seventeen year old inmate who was charged as an adult was found hanged in his cell at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Saturday night.  Brandon Fannin was found by a correctional officer during a cell check on February 26th.  According to the Incident Report, Fannin hanged himself with a bed sheet.   Officers attempted to revive him, but were unsuccessful.  A note was found in his cell saying he was going to commit suicide.  He had not been on a suicide watch because there had been no indication that he intended to harm himself.  Officers had checked Fannin at 11:02 p.m. and again at 11:30 when they found him dead.  His body was taken to the Regional Forensic Center by Rural Metro. He was being held at the Knox County Jail for Hawkins County.  He was in a cell by himself.
