North Knox County Double Fatality

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a wreck that killed two people and injured three people on Thursday evening around 5:30 p.m. According to the initial investigation, a vehicle (vehicle one) was traveling eastbound on East Raccoon Valley Road when it crossed over into oncoming traffic at 519 East Raccoon Valley Road and struck a vehicle traveling westbound (vehicle two) head on.  Two passengers in vehicle one have been pronounced dead and the driver was transported to UT Medical Center by Lifestar. Two people in vehicle two were transported to UT Medical Center by Rural Metro.

KCSO crash reconstructionists are on the scene. It is unknown at this time whether or not seat belts were worn. It is also unknown at this time whether speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash. More details will be released as they become available. Identities (including vehicle descriptions) aren’t being released until relatives are notified.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the assistance of the white male driving a small, faded red Chevy pickup who was traveling behind vehicle one, witnessed the crash, and stopped at the scene. His assistance in the investigation would be greatly appreciated and he is asked to call the KCSO at (865) 215-2243.
