Pursuit Ends in Crash and Arrest

Friday, 10 May 2013

One man is in custody following a short pursuit that ended in a crash this morning.

On Friday around 11:45 a.m., officers with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve a warrant on 40-year-old Jeremy Phillip Woody at an address on West Parkway Avenue.

After officers observed Woody driving on West Parkway Avenue, Woody fled in his vehicle and was located again on Rowan Road. Officers attempted to pull him over, but Woody fled onto Cedar Lane and then onto West Parkway Avenue. Officers attempted to stop Woody’s vehicle, but he tried to drive around the cruiser in front of him and rammed into the side of it. Woody’s vehicle spun out and ran into a ditch.

He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault on a police officer, failure to yield to emergency equipment, evading arrest, and driving on a suspended license.  His total bond amount is $105,000.
