Double Homicide Suspect Arrested

Sunday, 06 March 2011

A man accused of killing his parents in their South Knox County home is in the Knox County Detention Facility charged with two counts of first degree murder.  Thirty-two year old Adam Johnson is being held on a bond of two million dollars.  He was arrested early Sunday morning after being arrested in Hawkins County late Saturday on theft charges.  Fifty-eight year old Tom Johnson and his 59 year old wife Sharon were found dead in their house at 7915 Hall Road around 9:30 Saturday morning by two Knox County Deputies who were checking on the couple after a welfare request was made by Jefferson County 911.  A Jefferson City Police Officer was suspicious of a Jeep Cherokee found in a Lowe’s parking lot and traced the vehicle back to the Johnsons and made the welfare request.  Johnson is accused of taking his parents' vehicle and leaving it in Jefferson City.

Johnson was living with his parents.  He has a criminal history in Knox County including convictions for burglary and theft.

The Knox County Medical Examiner will conduct autopsies on the couple to determine the cause of death.
