Victim Identified in Fatal Fire

The autopsy of the victim in Friday morning’s house fire shows that she died from smoke inhalation. She is identified as 36-year-old Maria Priscilla Jovel Chicas of 7215 Hammer Road.

On Friday, June 7th, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fire in the 7200 block of Hammer Road just before 8:30 a.m. Jovel Chicas was found inside the home and transported by Rural Metro to UT Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The KCSO Major Crimes Unit, Knox County Fire Investigation Unit, and Medical Examiner are investigating.
