Man Arrested in Kroger Pharmacy Robbery

Wednesday, 09 March 2011

At approximately 5:36 pm, a white male with two fully loaded guns in holsters walked into the Kroger at 189 Brooklawn, approached the pharmacy window and demanded drugs from the employees. After getting medication, he fled the store with three citizens following him into the parking lot to detain him.  He attempted to swallow the drugs that he had just stolen.  Two KCSO Officers arrived on the scene within two minutes, and after a brief scuffle took the suspect into custody.

Joel Christian Parker, DOB 1-21-1979, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.  He was transported by Rural Metro to Mercy West Hospital for observation, since he had taken some of the medication he had stolen.  He is at the Knox County Sheriff Detention Facility this morning, held on a $50,000. bond.  Parker had on his person two fully loaded guns, each with a round in the chamber, one holstered on his shoulder and the other on his hip.  In addition, he had extra magazines in his pocket and a knife around his neck.
