Woman Accidently Shot by Friend

A woman was hospitalized on Sunday after being shot in the leg by a friend. Around 4:41 p.m. on June 30, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to 10600 High Meadow Drive in West Knox County. According to the initial investigation, 56-year-old Vivian Ann Wright of Knoxville was visiting her friends at their home when 69-year-old Jack Robert Wells showed her his 9 mm Ruger handgun. He reloaded the handgun and as he put it back in its case, it accidentally discharged and the bullet struck Wright in the leg.

Wright was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center by Rural Metro. Her injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. No foul play is suspected and no charges have been filed. The incident remains under investigation by the KCSO.
