Road Rage Incident Leads to Shooting

Monday, 16 December 2013

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened around 4 o’clock Monday afternoon in East Knox County as a result of a road rage incident.  According to the preliminary investigation, a man driving a Saturn SUV cut off two motorcycles as they exited 640 onto Washington Pike.  As the two motorcyclists followed the SUV, it stopped and backed up, knocking over one motorcycle.   A witness to the incident helped the driver get the motorcycle up.

They all proceeded to follow the SUV in order to get the tag and call 911.  They followed the driver to a residence at 2705 Mary Emily Lane, where they stayed in the street.  The suspect came out of the garage with a gun in both hands firing and yelling at the men.  One man was reportedly shot multiple times and was transported to U.T. Medical Center.  The others were not injured.  The suspect is in custody and is being questioned at the Sheriff’s Office.  More information will be posted as it becomes available.
