KCSO Receives Traffic Safety Grant

Tuesday, 17 December 2013

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office has received a one-year traffic safety grant for approximately $75,000. The grant will be used to pay overtime for offices to work traffic saturation patrols in Knox County through September 30, 2014.

The grant is funded through the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office. The goal of this grant is to reduce the number of total vehicle crashes and fatalities, with an emphasis on DUI’s, speeders, impaired and distracted drivers. The saturation patrols will be held throughout the year, with a focus on holidays and high-traffic weekends.
