The Knox County Sheriff’s Office congratulates November’s Detectives of the Month, Detectives Tonia McFarland and Matt Sexton.

Detective McFarland worked a child abuse case that culminated in one woman being charged with 30 counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of child abuse, and one man being charged with 17 counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of child abuse.

Detective Sexton received a residential robbery call the weekend of October 27th. Detective Sexton’s initial investigation provided him with two suspects. He put them in a line up and the victims identified them as two of the robbers. Warrants for aggravated robbery were issued. On October 29th, Detective Sexton was searching for the suspects and located them on Norris Freeway. He arrested two of the three suspects and learned the identity of the third suspect and where he had sold the gun used in the robbery. After gathering information on the buyer, Detective Sexton recovered the weapon. By November 5th, all three suspects had been arrested and charged in the case.

Detective McFarland has been with the KCSO since May 2003. Detective Sexton has been with the KCSO since January 1995.
