Horse Causes School Bus Wreck

Friday, 24 January 2014

A horse is to blame for a North Knox County school bus wreck this morning.

According to the initial investigation, bus number two, carrying children to Corryton Elementary, was traveling on Emory Road at Dyer Road just before 7 a.m. when a horse jumped from the bank and struck the bus and its windshield. Rural Metro responded and checked three children for minor injuries. Two of the children were taken home by their parents and the rest were transported to school by another bus.

The horse died on the scene. Two other horses were also found to have gotten loose and were taken by Animal Control to their owner. No citations were issued and no charges have been filed.
