Armed Robbery at Asheville Highway Drugstore

Tuesday, 10 May 2011

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who robbed an Asheville Highway drugstore at 11:05 Tuesday morning.  The suspect entered the Belew Drugstore at 8622 Asheville Highway brandishing a black semi-automatic handgun and threatened to kill everyone behind the pharmacy counter if they didn’t lie down on the floor.  He demanded oxycodone, which one of the pharmacists gave him, and then the suspect fled the store.

Eyewitnesses say he left in an 80’s model gray, 2-door Celica GT with a spoiler on the trunk headed east on Asheville Highway.  The suspect is described as a white male believed to be in his 50s or 60s, blonde hair with some gray, around 5’8 and 150-160 pounds.  He was wearing a charcoal fleece pullover with a half zipper, jeans and a red baseball cap with no design.

Anyone with information is asked to call the KCSO at 215-2243.
