Knoxville Man Charged with Rape of a Child

A Knoxville man is being held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a half million dollars bond for the rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.  A grand jury yesterday returned a presentment on Johnathan Swanson as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Family Crisis Unit.

Swanson was already in the Detention Facility on a drug charge when the capias warrant was served.  He was charged with rape in 2007, but it was nolle prossed—meaning the case was dismissed but could have been refiled at a later date.  He was charged and pleaded guilty to statutory rape in 2007.
