KCSO Arrests Armed Robbery Suspect

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on Friday who is accused of robbing a man at an East Knox County convenience store last month. 43-year-old Derrick Haskel Cody of Knoxville was taken into custody by the KCSO Criminal Warrants Division on May 15th just before 1:00 p.m. at his girlfriend’s apartment on Daylily Drive. He is accused of robbing a man at knifepoint at an East Knox County gas station located on Strawberry Plains Pike on April 21st. The suspect said while in the restroom, a black male entered and grabbed his arms and took his wallet which contained $50.  The victim yelled for help and the suspect pulled out a knife and told him to shut up.

Cody is charged with aggravated robbery and is being held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $75,000 bond. He has a criminal history in Knox County that includes simple possession, driving without a license, aggravated burglary, theft, vandalism, public intoxication.
